Leadership change at the ADM Institute

Friends of ADMI,

It seems that change is everywhere we turn these days, and here at the ADM Institute for the Prevention of Postharvest Loss, that is true as well.

On June 30, Dr. Prasanta Kalita’s tenure as our director came to an end. Our institute has benefited from his leadership over the past three years, and we thank him for lending us his time and boundless energy. In many ways, Dr. Kalita has become the emblem of the ADMI and his efforts have been instrumental in making the institute the leading international resource for information on mitigation of postharvest loss.

Dr. Kalita will continue to be engaged as an advisor and participant in ADMI activities while serving in his role as associate dean for academic programs in the College of ACES.

Neal Merchen Ph.D.

Dr. Neal Merchen, associate dean for research at the University of Illinois College of ACES and member of the ADMI steering committee, began serving as interim director of ADMI on July 1, 2017.

Dr. Merchen has been in his current position since 2012. He joined the animal science faculty at the university in 1981, and previously served as the head of the Department of Animal Sciences. We look forward to moving the institute forward with his leadership.
