"Mapping the Production System and the Supply Chain and Study the Crop Losses of Black Gram" Excerpt | Full Report
MART, India, August 2012
The ADM Institute collaborate with MART, an Indian consulting company, to study postharvest losses (PHL) of black gram in the states of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. The full report can be found here. This report excerpts key section from that entire report. Three main topic are addressed -- causes of loss, currently available technologies for prevention and reasons why those technologies are not widely used, as well as potential opportunities for innovation in the black gram supply chain. Because India is the largest black gram producer in the world, reducing PHL of black gram in India will significantly increase the available black gram in the world.
